Julia McCoy, LPC
I work with individuals, couples, children and families. I am a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor, C4090. As ethically and legally mandated by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Oregon State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I participate in ongoing consultation and education.
I find great calmness in hiking with my children, reading, cooking, and exploring life. For me this exploration is at it's height by connecting on a deeper level with other individuals. I conduct my practice using Emotionally Focused Therapy integrated with Solution Focused Therapy. Emotionally Focused Therapy is collaborative and respectful of clients. This means that we work strategically together to reach your goals. This method is validated by over 20 years of empirical research. A primary goal of this perspective is to re-organize emotional responses and interactions while creating more secure bonds in your relationships. An example of this would be understanding where an angry reaction comes from and learning how to respond or help others respond from an emotion that is more useful.
I enjoy working with all populations, but I specialize in adoptive and foster family issues.

My goal as a therapist is to create a respectful, compassionate, safe and nurturing environment where you will feel comfortable working through challenges that are negatively impacting your life. I believe that everyone has the ability to make positive changes to improve their quality of life. I work from a Strengths-based perspective and will work with you in collaboration to set goals to create meaningful change. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques including CBT, and Mindfulness and will work with you to explore therapeutic options to meet your specific needs. I look forward to meeting you!
